Re the use, with C/L being officially light cavalry and dragoons heavy, there is a tendency (in 1809 at least, I don't know about 1805) to put C/L in infantry Korps Avant Garde divisions and the dragoons with the Kurassiers in the Reserve Korps, although there are some Dragoons in infantry Korps.
